Christmas Dress 2012

Inspired by this crazy, yet cool Retro Christmas Dress that Lisa Freemont Street pointed out on her Facebook, I've decided to make my own Christmas Dress (at least that's the plan). I had a personal matra to not do or think of Christmas stuff until after Thanksgiving, but oops...

Pattern from Gertie's Book for Better Sewing (that I got for my Birthday, yay!) The Sultry Sheath Dress variation w/ full Gathered Skirt and 3/4 length sleeves. I finished the FBA (alteration) yesterday (while watching Firefly) and I think the tissue fits well, now onto the muslin! And adjusting the shoulders so they cover my bra straps, plus sleeves.

Birthday 2012

Hello! Well another year, another Birthday. It was my Birthday on Thursday (September 27th! And it was oh so good. As usual (which I love) my family and I went out to dinner: Mom, Dad, Steph (sister), Jon (bro in law) and their new daughter (my niece) Kate!

We went to Olive Garden (I am not kidding, 7 (7!) people at the restaurant had "Happy Birthday" sung to them, they were trying to steal my thunder!), then came back home for cake and presents (Presents! Cake!)

The Haul:
-$23 for my number of years (which will probably go towards my Halloween costume and/or hopefully fabric for a cute dress made from...
-Colette Patterns Macaron Dress - yay! This means I get to make cute dresses!
-Emma (1996) DVD - gotta love the Jane Austinness of it all :) and Gwyneth Paltrow has never been cuter (besides Pepper Potts BFFing it up with Agent Phil Coulson maybe)
-a wrist pin cushion! - which looks like a mini pillow on your wrist, which is adorable and it's blue (my favorite color)!
-an Halloween Owl decoration that says "Happy Owl-Oween!" It's adorable and glittery.
-Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Song Book - Score! Now I have this fab jazzy lady to listen to while I clean my room (and other things). And the packaging is super cute and retroy.
-A $15 gift card to Beverly's Craft Store from Steph and Jon. You know what this means? That's right, Halloween/crafts galore/fabric :)

Birthday Cake (all blue!)
Jon made fire
Blew out all the candles!

All smiles :)

Jon didn't know where the camera was on my phone, so that's his finger
The photo that turned out nice :)

And the ones that didn't...

I was laughing so hard I was crying (I don't know why this one's quality is so bad, it didn't resize right)

So there you go :) Birthday fun! Thank you family! I love you guys :)

Summer Photos and Gatsby Reading

Hello! Even though the first day of Summer isn't official until tomorrow , I'm claiming Summer as officially here. This week while Dad's been away up at Grandma's, I've been watering the garden for him, and even picking some strawberries for yours truely, and I must say it's quite enjoyable, and refreshing  on a sunny afternoon.
My alleries have been crazy, but nothing that some good allergy medicine isn't solving.

Mom and I bought "Midnight in Paris" (2011) this week, and after watching it last night (Mom liked it, and I liked it again after seeing it again for the first time since last year, and laughing at seeing Loki Tom Hiddleston as F. Scott Fitzgerald), I was inspired to do some long overdue Summer reading. So we went out today and bought a few books from Barnes and Noble. I bought Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" and "This Side of Paradise", and Mom bought Alexandre Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo".

Time to watch John Green's Gatsby's American Dream Golden Gatsby

I'm also working on sewing a shirt, I'm almost done, and I'll post pictures when that's finished. And while outside noticing all the plants at sunset, I decided to take some photos, which I'll share with you now :)

Hello again!

Hello again! On a happy note, I'm starting a new blog, but not exactly because I wanted to, which is the sad part of the story. The other side of the coin is that since Blogger and Google have changed their systems and policies, I'd have to simply switch my Blog over to my (newly created) Google account. A simple enough procedure, except Google can't find my blog! (http://lilbaileyfunkymonk.blogspot.com/). Goodness knows why but I've tried my email, user name, retrieving "forgotten" passwords, and it says it can't find one that matches in their database, even though my blog is still up and running, even though it won't be come May 30th.

So while I'm a little said I'll loose a  few blog posts, It's a good reason to start fresh anew. And in commemoration, I'll try to update more often. Starting with my current creative plans...A Poetry Book. While looking for a folder in my room for my talk, I came across an old project I had done for a Creative Writing class I had taken Junior year. And I must say while although it was a good project for the time, I thought I might be able to make a more creative work of art nowadays, so I thought I should make a second crack at a Poetry Book of sorts, though with less constricted rules (and less traditional poetry).

It could simply be a crafted book of ideas, art, quotes, and stories. For the past little while, I've been collecting musical lyrics I've liked and jotted down a few notes, and even get the idea to turn part of the book (or all?) into a Pop Up Book. Hopefully I'll update with some of those ideas soon.

Goals to post on this new Blog: Story Ideas, Art, Photography, "Poetry Story Book Pop Up Project", thoughts from far away places, Different Ideas and Inspiration of all kinds.

To the Future!
